About the Construction Estimator position

The Construction Estimator will calculate the possible costs and gains of construction projects, providing the company with accurate information that will help in operations and strategic planning. Duties will include collecting and analyzing data according to a series of useful variables.
They should be very comfortable with numbers and analytical activities. Besides, they should have great attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze the requirements of the project or program at hand
  • Review drawings and specifications, and initiate Requests for Information if necessary
  • Define scopes to produce valid estimates
  • Perform quantity takeoff on various scopes
  • Work with project data, produce forecasts, and perform risk analysis
  • Create detailed reports or bids and submit them to the appropriate parties
  • Send out Requests for Quotation to suppliers and subcontractors
  • Maintain relationships with key vendors, subcontractors, architects, and others

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience working on a Construction Estimator or other similar position
  • Good practical experience with software like Planswift, Bluebeam, or other onscreen takeoff software
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Good organizational skills and high reliability
  • Degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or other relevant area
